Persistent Cyst

Yesterday I realized that my Bartholin's gland cyst is back. I thought it went away when I finally saw my GYN last year and she was able to get into the heart of it so it could drain. I was wrong. My little vaginal pain nugget is alive and well, making life extra-specially wicked in the region of my undercarriage. My other peri-anal abscess is feeling pinchy, too.

The thought that maybe the Bartholin's gland will need to be removed came into my mind. My GYN said it can be done, but is a very bloody and messy surgery. Not something you'd want to do unless it was necessary. It is my hope that shutting up my butt and diverting all fecal flow out through an ostomy will stop the Bartholin's gland from "cysting". There may be some connection between it and the funky plumbing I have.

With Module 4 rapidly approaching, I hope that the cyst will go away (as it has been known to do) or that it will do its swelling thing within a week so I can get it drained. I don't want to get to module and have it reach critical mass and fever sets in.

So I'm in a funky, icky mood. Taking the pain medication only increases my level of evil moodiness. *Sigh* Can someone just shoot me and get it over with?

Beaded Markers

These are just some of the stitch markers that Pooky and I created. I'm working on a stitch marker for crochet, one that will loop around the stitch. I've found the perfect closure, but just need to buy the crimping tool in order to secure the beads. The crimping tool is $20. I want to have some of these knitted markers sell first before I invest in making crochet ones. Click on the images to see larger picture.

"Culture of Life"

I don't get the political double-speak of the conservatives. Does anyone understand it? This latest headline from Yahoo tells of GWB supporting pro-lifers. I question his sincerity on this issue. Why? One word: Iraq. How many lives both ours and theirs have been lost because of his insistance we needed to invade them and have a petty little war with them? How is that being pro-life? What about the civilians who have been caught in the crossfire. What about some of those civilians being pregnant women? Where is the consistency in beliefs? Did those fetuses in the wombs of the Iraq women not count because they are "the enemy" and she wasn't looking to willfully terminate her pregnancy? In one situation it is "right" and the other is "wrong". Who determines the "wrong" and "right"-ness of a situation, then?

If the GOP really believes in the sanctity of life, then to my way of thinking the GOP should be the real "liberals" supporting laws to ban guns, stop capital punishment, and march for world peace. Instead, what they do support is "justified" killing and pay lip service to pro-life.

If my words seem harsh or challenging to your belief system, then explain the incongruency of the GOP. Where is their logic in saying one thing, but their actions demonstrate the opposite. Should not what one say and what do be in harmony? Or does integrity not have a place in political culture?

Autumn Diamonds

Beginning of the sleeve
The yarn that was delayed by the train derailment arrived yesterday, safe and sound. I thus began working on the Diamon Lace Tunic for my classmate who generously is paying me $100 to do so. I completed the series of increases on the sleeve and now just need to continue to achieve the proper length. It should go quickly. The pattern is easy to repeat once it becomes memorized.

My only gripe about this pattern is that they don't explain very well how to recover from the stitch increase, but I have figured it out on my own. It works, and that's all that matters.

In other news, Pooky and I went up to Shipwreck Beads to buy the raw materials to make beaded stitch markers to sell at my mom's yarn shop. I'm hoping that they will be a big hit.

I don't know what to sell them for, but will discuss it with my mom. Since she is way outside of Seattle, preferences and pricing is much different. The ladies up there will pay more for the same yarn or handmade projects. Where she is at, the money doesn't flow as much from the businesses, so she has to charge less in some cases.

It's interesting how that all works out. It's like they say about real estate: location, location, location.

If I can double my investment on the markers, I'd like to try selling some markers for crochet. I've found the type of clasp/closure that should fit nicely around the stitches.

It's easy to make really expensive markers because there are so many wonderful beads! Perhaps I'll have to splurge on my next visit and buy a few special beads to make as gifts, but for now I just hope the ones Pooky and I made last night will sell.

Slowly But Surely

I've been reconstructing my Crochet Gallery. I've got only a fraction of the pictures re-uploaded, but there is something to see if you want to take a look. I've got to take a break before I develop a blood clot in my legs, plus Pooky is saying he's ready to make the meatballs which means I need to run to the store and buy some tomato sauce.

If you're in the neighborhood stop by for a meatball sandwich!
