After many months of this being on my hook (almost a whole year!) I have completed Haley, the spiral doily of love. I had made it to the last spiral round when I discovered a tragic error, and had to frog the entire round. I was distraught, so I set it aside for a very long while until I could muster the courage to tackle the spirals again. I recently became motivated to finish up the last rounds. Haley measures 15 inches in diameter and is made with Opera size 20 thread in Antique Violet.

Self-Imposed PK Doily Challenge Progress

My 44th doily now is completed from my self-imposed PK Challenge! I've completed my first pattern book of doilies with Glorious from Wonderful Doilies. I decided to "color" this doily by making the pineapples in a contrasting/complimentary solid shade. I used three colors from Valdani size 12: S86, P10 and JP3. There are two different variegated colors and the one solid color. I am estimating that this doily measures at least 16" in diameter.

This doily is going to my Doily Swap partner. I selected this doily pattern for her along with the colors.

I've decided to finish up the two doilies that have been WIPs for far too long before starting any new patterns. I hope to get at least one of them finished before we go on our road trip on April 4th.

Here is my 2nd doily completed for the year from my Self-Imposed PK Doily Challenge! It is from her newest book Exquisite Doilies. The pattern's name is Michele. She measures 15" in diameter. I made her from two solid colors of Valdani size 12 thread: S86 and S79.

I don't yet know who her new family will be as I will have to find a forever home for her. I'm sure I'll find her new home shortly.

It's taken me awhile to get a doily off my hook! I've been a busy little Shrone flying across the country, ending my internship, and serving as the only lap in the house to 6 cats. I've not had a lot of interest or time in crocheting to boot. This is my 42nd doily in my self-imposed PK Doily Challenge. It's called Timeless from Simply Delightful Doilies. It's made with Valdani size 12 thread from the Muddy Money collection. I've started another doily, on my hook is one of the patterns from PK's newest pattern book. I may finish it by the end of the month. I've been pretty lazy with crocheting these days. I notice I go through crochet spurts and then take some time away from it.

A Gallant Accomplishment

I have made it to my 40th PK doily in my self-imposed challenge! The special doily is called Gallant from Masterpiece Doilies. It measures about 12 inches in diameter. The thread is Valdani size 12 in Rich Wines. More photos can be seen at my gallery!

My latest doily in my PK Challenge is Graceful Symmetry from Pineapple Elegance. The doily measures 14 inches in diameter and is made from Valdani size 12 thread in "Bronze". This doily has some special stitches that make it truly unique. The variegated tones work well with the pattern. This is my first use of browns to make a doily and I'm pleased with the results.

The colors remind me of a delicious chocolate with caramel. This doily could be called Caramello. However, no candy bars were consumed during the making of the doily.

I do have another doily on my hook and should finish it up this evening and will post it once I've gotten it blocked. I have just one more doily to create for a fellow intern, then I shall create a very, very, very, very special doily for my dear-heart friend, Jodi.

Works in Progress

It's sobering to know that even if I manage to crochet a doily a week for one year, it would take two years to make all of the PK doilies! With that being said, I'd like to make it seem like I'm well on my way to tackling this goal.Therefore, I shall list the various doilies in progress that I am currently working on.

In a Blue Mood

My latest doily, #38, is from Wonderful Doilies. It is called Marvelous. I made it using Valdani size 12 thread in colors O515 and P7. I used the P7 to make some contrast to make parts of the design stand out.

The blue color appears to be solid, but it really is a variegated of subtle shades of blue. The size of the doily, which I'm guessing, is in the 11-12 inch range.

I like the hexagon shape of this doily--a nice change from the usual round. I may re-block this doily to help the shape stay as it seems to have relaxed a bit and gotten a little saggy!
